A monthly prayer for August 2021

I haven’t previously shared my prayers beyond the CSL minister’s group. I don’t know why. I am part of a group that shares a prayer on a specific day monthly throughout the year, and I’ve done so for many years. Take it in, if it works for you. –rev jim

The mind which was in Christ Jesus is your mind and my mind, and when we have broken through this human exterior of mind and, through meditation, have contacted the Source, we are then one with the spiritual mind of the universe, which is the mind of the Buddha, of Jesus, of Lao-tse, and the mind of every spiritual saint and seer.
~Joel Goldsmith, A Parenthesis in Eternity

Everything, that ever has been, is, or has the potential to come forth in future times, exists in the ethers right now. While we see time as linear, that is only the human experience. All the great minds have tapped into that every=flowing knowledge which is within each of us waiting to be tapped just as a maple tree is tapped to bring forth maple syrup.

And, as I move into the space of Love, God’s space, I know that Love flows through us into our experience as we, as I am willing to allow that love to touch me and to become my experience.

I open the door to my heart to beat, to feel, to break wide open that Spirit may allow me to experience the ecstasy of Its presence moving in, through, and as me.

I loose from within me any feelings that may come up that would keep me from allowing the wellspring of Spirit to burst forth and render what has been me to dissolve into the nothingness and bring forth a rebirth a feeling that God, in me, as me and through me, truly is me.

In this place, I am peace. I am love. I am compassion. I am the diverse nature of the universe. I am free. And, I am grateful.

With all this, I am at peace in knowing that All Power Resides in God, and I rest in this thought, knowing it is true.

And so it is. Amen.

Somewhere in consciousness there lies a land undiscovered, a land not yet revealed by religion, philosophy, or science. I know that it exists for it continually pushes itself into my awareness. I know that when it discloses itself, it will change the nature of mankind: wars will be no more, and the lamb will lie down with the lion.

The Circle of Life

treeoflifeThe risen Christ is the standing icon of humanity in its full and final destiny.
He is the pledge and guarantee of what God will do with all our crucifixions.
~from Richard Rohr’s Daily Meditation 4.1.18

It is with hope that we are able to move beyond all of the desperate, fearful moments of our life. It is in these times that our faith carries us above any hurtful residues of the past that, without forgiveness, paralyze us and hold us in that story.

Just as, in the story of Jesus, he forgave all those who judged him, conspired against him and thought to bring finality to his life through forgiveness of ourselves and others, we can move out of our old ideas of living and into a new idea for ourselves, and a new paradigm of living consciously and fearlessly. In knowing and taking back our spiritual power, nothing can deter us on our path. Our spiritual path can only be changed by us, because it is not only unique to us individually, but because that path and our beliefs and faith are internal and unseen by others in its full color spectrum.

We are born to “boldly go” where no other person has ever before been. As our paths cross those of others, they have the potential of strengthening each other’s path in previously unknown ways yielding new directions, new challenges and new awakenings, until we come full circle to our beginnings once again.

This circle of life is best served allowing ourselves to move ever forward with the flow of life, instead of pushing against it, just as it is easier to paddle a canoe downstream than to paddle upstream.

Take your head out of your past!

Most of the time, we think of death as being the end of life. The definition for rebirth is “to be born again!” Put the two together, dying to the old” and “born again,” and you have what many evangelicals refer to as being “Born again.”

I think of being born again as being a daily event at the very least. Every day of our life we have “stuff” happen in our lives, which offer us an opportunity for growth. The good things we want to grow, and the bad things we want to go away. The good things carry us on a high, until we hit a wall. When the bad happens, we tend to hold on to it, where we shall under just shake it off, and oft times we allow it to become our story, the reason that thing didn’t work. We then wallow in that place and use it as a bragging point as to why we shouldn’t continue trying to achieve that or something even better. “The pain just isn’t”t worth it! It ruined my life. I’ll never be the same again. I am a failure!”

Have you ever heard that? People give up for no good reason at all. Imagine if Thomas Edison had given up on creating the light bulb! It took him thousands of attempts to create it, but he didn’t give up. In the same way, at one point in my life after I had become self employed I thought, “I could make a lot more money going back to banking!” I even went as far as to schedule a couple of job interviews and even went to one of them. It was while I was in the first interview that I realized why I had become self employed in the first place, and really redoubled my efforts to make my business work! All that it took was to “take my head out of my past” and bring it back to the present moment and do the work. With that, the work became fun and the chore was no more! I had been born again! Woo-hoo!

It was at that point that one more piece of my spiritual puzzle began to make sense. It was at that point that I realized (again) that I wasn’t at the effect of some external force, some external power, but that there was within me a power that if directed to a purpose, activated and became my life experience.

The “God in me” expressed in, through, and as me. IT created as me the new experience I wanted in my life and has pretty much, ever since. When I don’t experience something after really working it, I try it differently, or something else.

What about you? Are you happy with your story, or are you open to a new experience? Better now than later!
